TALHI Legislative Update
TALHI priority legislation continues to move through the Texas Legislature. HB 1243/SB 561: The Senate version of the NCOIL Unclaimed Life Benefits Model passed the Texas Senate on Wednesday on the Local and Uncontested Calendar and is heading to the Texas House; both HB 1073/SB 520: the Provisional Work Authority "clean up" and HB 1197/SB 519: Temporary License Training Time have the House Bill versions in the Senate and should be heard in Senate Committee in the next week or so. The Senate version of HB 1566/SB 507: Balance Billing Mediation has been referred to the House Insurance Committee; and finally, both SB 1070/HB 2491: Credit for Reinsurance Model Act have been unanimously voted out of their respective committees this week and are continuing to move through the process.

TDI Adopts HMO Updates to TAC
The commissioner of insurance adopted the repeal of Title 28 TAC, Chapter 11, relating to Health Maintenance Organizations, and adopted a new Title 28 TAC, Chapter 11, relating to HMOs, to replace the existing chapter. Details on these changes can be found here.
