Membership renewals for 2018 will be sent out soon. Packets with dues invoices will be sent out via regular mail and email to the designated primary contact person for each group within the next two weeks. TALHI 2018 dues are due no later than February 1.

TDI Proposes Maintenance Taxes and Overhead Assessment Rates
In today's Texas Register, TDI has posted proposed rates for maintenance taxes and overhead assessment rates for examinations. Maintenance taxes on gross life, accident, and health premiums remain unchanged at .40%. Additional information is here.

Accenture Letter Re: Medicaid Billing Coordination
Your company may have received a letter from Accenture asking for access to your company's database for matching purposes. Texas law establishes a Medicaid billing coordination system for the purpose of identifying whether another entity has primary payor responsibility for Medicaid rendered services. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission, TXHSSC, uses the Texas Department of Insurance's (TDI) website to create a list of accident and health carriers to send Billing Coordination System agreements to for data matching. Unfortunately, TDI's database isn't more specific on what types of accident and health products a carrier markets, so TXHHSC must rely on the carriers to inform them that the company does not market the type of products listed in Accenture's letter.

If your company does not market Medicaid products, respond to Accenture and TXHHSC will note that in their records. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jennifer.
