First TALHI Priority Bill Sent to Governor
With the session set to end in just over a week, TALHI’s bills continue to progress. TALHI’s 403(b) legislation, HB 2820, has passed both chambers and been sent to Governor Abbott for his signature. HB 3306, the Corporate Governance Model bill, has been recommended for the Senate Local and Uncontested Calendar. SB 1153 (Guaranty Association Model Update) passed to third reading on the House General State Calendar and is expected to be sent to the Governor today after passing on third reading. SB 1852 (CCP Signature Removal) passed the House with an amendment and was sent back to the Senate to be reconciled; it has been placed on the Senate Items Eligible Calendar for today. Senator Paxton is expected to concur in House amendments.

SB 437 by Nelson/Price, the opioid antagonist in life underwriting bill, met the deadline yesterday to be reported out of House Insurance. The bill contains our agreed-to language, but faces an uphill battle to get through the process. HB 207 by Craddick, the non-guaranteed charges bill, is still waiting to be set on the Senate Local Calendar but should be set next week.
