HB 3306, the Corporate Governance Model bill, passed the House and was scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Business & Commerce Committee yesterday, where it was left pending. It should be voted out early next week. Two other priority bills, SB 1153 (Guaranty Association Model Update) and SB 1852 (CCP Signature Removal), are still waiting to be placed on the House Calendar, which is expected soon.
Non-Guaranteed Charges Disclosure Bill Advancing with TALHI Amendments The committee substitute with our requested changes for HB 207 was voted out of the Senate Business & Commerce committee yesterday. TDI Proposes Amendments to Info and Complaint Notice Rules The Texas Department of Insurance proposes to amend 28 TAC §1.601, relating to notice of toll-free numbers and information and complaint procedures, and 28 TAC §1.602, relating to notice of an internet website. Amending §1.601 and §1.602 will improve the readability of the rules and make it easier for consumers to know where and how to get help with an insurance or HMO question or complaint. It will also provide better contact information for consumers with workers' compensation problems. For more info, click here.
